1st International Conference on Gastronomy Tourism



 PRESS RELEASE

The holding of the 1st International Conference on Gastronomy Tourism organized by the Technological Educational Institute of Athens and the Club for UNESCO of Piraeus and Islands with the support of Food & Beverage Managers Association of Greece and CEUCO is announced.
 The Conference is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Economy, Development and Tourism and the Ministry of Rural Development and Food and will take place on 26th and 27th November 2016 at the Conference Center of  Technological Educational Institute of Athens (TEI Athinas).
The Conference's main subject focuses on culinary tourism and aims to unite the domestic tourism industry bodies with the representatives of private enterprise. It is worth noting that the conference's purpose is to provide an effective partnership basis all the industry representatives with common goal of development of gastronomic tourism. For that purpose members of the academic community and the business world were invited to collaborate.
The subject of the Conference is distinguished in the following categories:
§ The present and the future of gastronomic tourism
§ The context of gastronomic tourism
§ The conceptual approach of gastronomic tourism
§ Culinary tourism as a development vehicle for Greek tourism enterprises
§ Outlining the gastronomic map of Greece
§ The marketing of gastronomic tourism
§ Gastronomical tourism and Mediterranean diet

The Key note speakers of the conference are Roberta Garibaldi, (Scientific Director of East Lombardy, European Region of Gastronomy 2017, Certified Ambassador of the World Food Travel Association, Delegate of the Lombardy Region to SISTUR, Italian Association of Tourism Sciences) and Carlos Martin Cosme, president CEUCO.
For the conference, a special scientific committee is set up that oversees the conference’s program chaired by Dr. Pericles Lytras, Vice President of the TEI of Athens, representatives and members of the academic community. Finally, chairman of the organizing committee is Mr. Ioannis Maronitis, President of the Club for UNESCO Piraeus and Islands and Member of the Executive Board of the World Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centers and Associations (WFUCA) for Europe and North America.
